Using a Wiki
Getting started
If you are new to using a Wiki, here are a few things to help you understand how things work. It is strongly suggested that you don't start editing before you feel comfortable about using the features.
First, I suggest that you browse around this Wiki to become familiar with the structure. Then, take some random pages and look at their source by clicking the "View source" tab on top ("Edit" if you are logged in). The code that makes the page look like it does will then appear. Looking at it, and at the result a specific codeline produces, will help you understand the basics. The third step would be to register yourself as a user (on the top right) and log in in order to be able to edit the pages. If you want to try messing around with code, you can use the sandbox page. Please do not make tests on other pages.
Documentation
A lot of pages already exist with most of the information you might need when using a wiki. The following will probably prove very helpful, from the basics to a more advanced understanding of the Wiki:
Meta-Wiki reader help - the basic stuff. Everything you need to know about how to navigate around a Wiki and viewing the content.
MediaWiki help manual - the "Editing" part will most likely answer all your questions about editing. It is a perfect starting guide, and also includes information for more advanced coders.
Meta-Wiki editor help - more information included here about editing, with many useful examples.
GermanMetalWiki Guidelines
Because this Wiki is built and structured in a specific way, it is important to read and follow certain guidelines before helping to build it or keep it up-to-date. If you think any modification should be made to these guidelines, feel free to drop me a line (see below) or to use the Discussion page.
Introduction
The main content of this Wiki is contained in the band sections. Each of these sections is structures the same way, even though it is always possible to adapt it to certain specifics if it is really needed. Next to these band sections, the Homepage, with a sum-up of the news coming from all band sections, the Radio page, which is not really part of the Wiki in itself, the Marketplace, where people can trade goods, the Discussion area, where all users can freely discuss of Wiki matter, and finally, information about the Wiki in the Help, About and Donations page. All of these pages should not be modified without previous agreement.
Posting news
If you would like to submit news on the Wiki, please check out our guide for submitting news!
Band sections
The guidelines on how to create and edit band sections are to be found in the following guides. Please note that the ASP section should always be used as a standard reference for the other ones (the "model section"). Before adding an artist please make sure it is proper to add this artist. If you are not sure about it, please make sure the artist fits as German Metal (refer to this article for a definition and examples). We strongly advise asking here before adding a section. You can also check here a list of the bands we would like sections for in priority; if you are a big fan of any of these bands, don't be shy and start building its section!

Translations
Since for most of the bands we are listing, information is easier to find in German, native German with an excellent knowledge of English (or the opposite) can help a lot by translating. Might it be random information found about the bands that they can add to the section, or the translation of song lyrics! If you are interesting in translating for us, just leave me a message with your preferences about what you'd like to translate.
Capitalization
For now, one rule has to be followed regarding capitalization:
The first letter of each word in a song title, album title or band name should always be capitalized, except if it is obvious that the artist wants it otherwise
